About the opportunity

With long term civil projects already underway, and more in the pipeline across Melbourne, we need experienced Supervisors now.

Reporting directly to the Area Manager, your primarily responcibility will be to deliver assigned projects on time, on budget and meeting all safety and quality standards.

Your key responsibilities include, but are not limited to :

  • Plan and manage the overall allocation of plant, materials and human resources, to meet key project timelines for assigned projects;
  • Liaise with all subcontractors and ensure completed works meet the required specifications;
  • Ensure that workers adhere to Rokon safety policies and procedures at all times;
  • Review budgets and KPI’s for allocated projects monthly and flag any issues with Area Manager and Project Engineer/Manager;
  • Participate in or conduct site audits, client meetings, sign-offs, safety inspections and other requirements, at appropriate stages for each project; and
  • Ensure project documentation and administration is completed as required.

 

About you

You will need to demonstrate the following: 

  • Minimum of 2 years' experience in civil construction in a site supervisory/ manager capacity, managing multiple stages;
  • Extensive residential and industrial subdivision works experience;
  • Organised and capable people person with high professional standards and the interpersonal communication and negotiation skills;
  • Ensure works are completed the right way, first time, every time;
  • Knowledge of health, safety, environment  and quality processes and systems;
  • A focus on working with productivity targets, including budget and quality; and
  • Qualifications in Civil Construction Supervision/Management is considered an advantage.

About the opportunity 

Reporting to the Site Supervisor, you will primarily be responsible for delivering assigned projects safely and efficiently.

Your duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Demonstrate and comply with all safe working policies and at all times
  • Participate in, and when required, conduct toolbox and pre-start meetings 
  • Maintain up to date knowledge of project quality requirements and stipulated outcomes for the project through specifications, plans, technical drawings, permits, council requirements, etc.
  • Actively support the Site Supervisor to meet productivity, budget and quality targets for the project 
  • Assist in coordinating plant, material and internal and external human resources on site
  • Ensure project is running effectively and efficiently in Site Supervisor's absence
  • Participate in the completion of documentation and compliance for the site as required
  • Assist the Site Supervisor with team training 
  • Work closely with the Project team to ensure project is meeting timelines and budgets
  • Assist in forward planning for plant, human resources, sub-contractor requirements and materials as directed
  • Participate in audits, client meetings, sign offs, safety inspections, maintenance and other requirements as required

About you

To be considered, you need to demonstrate the following:

  • 1-2 years’ experience as a Leading Hand within the civil construction sector preferred
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrate strong planning and organisational skills
  • Positive, proactive with a can-do attitude
  • Self-motivated and display initiative readily.
  • Exhibit high personal and professional work standards, and a willingness to learn

If you have experience operating machines (excavators, dozers, scrapers, graders, trucks, rollers or compactors) within the construction industry, we want to hear from you.

About the opportunity 

Reporting to the Site Supervisor, your key duties include:

  • Prepare and position plant for operation
  • Load and unload equipment as required
  • Select, change and operate special attachments such as buckets, loading scoops, etc.
  • Monitor operation of plant and adjust accordingly
  • Work from drawings and markers for essential services (i.e. electrical, gas etc.), as directed by Supervisors and Engineers
  • Follow and ensure safe operating procedures at all times

About you

You need to demonstrate the following:

  • Proven experience operating key plant - excavator (20-90t), loader, compactor and water cart etc.
  • Civil experience specifically in bulk earthworks and subdivisions
  • GPS and final trim experience preferred
  • Drainage experience would be an advantage
  • All appropriate tickets and licenses
  • Can work under pressure
  • A focus on safety
  • Able to work as part of a team
  • Flexible to move across machines and sites as required by the business

  • Current drivers licence and own transport
  • OH&S Induction card (white card)
  • Ability to perform manual handling work
  • Able and eager to learn
  • A commitment to safety policies and procedures
  • Good communication skills
  • Great work ethic and can-do attitude

Skilled Labourers – experience in sub-divisions, road construction or drainage, basic boxing and concreting or tickets as Electrical Spotter or Traffic Controller, will be highly regarded.

As a result of our growth and new business pipeline, we are currently seeking Project Engineers to join our team.

About the role

Our Engineering team is responsible for providing engineering and project management expertise in the planning, budgeting, forecasting and reporting of our projects. Working closely with our construction teams on site, you will:

  • Ensure documentation requirements, internal procedures, ITP’s and other requirements applicable to allocated projects, are available for reference and implementation on each site/stage
  • Ensure that quality and HSE requirements for each project are documented and are clearly communicated to the responsible Site Supervisor
  • Manage contracts and technical engineering specifications for each project
  • Manage all stakeholders’ groups including subcontractors, councils and relevant authorities
  • Liaise with other business functions, administration and site management to ensure the flow of materials, as required
  • Manage project costs and timelines and escalate issues in a timely manner
  • Arrange project meetings and ensure project status minutes are completed and distributed
  • Investigate any cost, claim and overrun anomalies and address accordingly
  • Forecast final costs and provide regular analysis and updates of these forecasts as each job progresses
  • Provide regular and ad hoc reports on all engineering and project activities as required by Management

About you

To be considered, you need to demonstrate the following:

  • Tertiary qualification in Civil Engineering
  • Minimum 5 years’ engineering experience within the civil construction industry, with residential and subdivision exposure
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings
  • Estimate from first principles
  • Skilled in all MS Office applications including MS Project and Excel
  • Advanced analytical skills and ability to challenge existing practices to identify justifiable improvement opportunities
  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written with a demonstrated ability to discuss a wide range of issues to people across all levels of the organisation
  • Excellent relationship building, problem solving, negotiation and leadership skills
  • A positive, proactive, can-do attitude, combined with strong time management and organisation skills
  • Self-motivated and can demonstrate initiative
  • High personal and professional work standards with sound planning and organisational skills
  • OH&S Induction White Card and current Victorian driver’s licence are essential
